Latest Updates from Our Project:

Rangers, Pre-gens, & Backgrounds - Oh My!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 20, 2021 at 11:02:46 PM

As we close in on that £400K stretch goal Narrator's Screen (don't worry we have four more artific.... err .... stretch goals to announce after that!) we have a few updates for you!

First of all -- we're halfway though the campaign and at nearly £400K. That's astonishing. We are so grateful for all your support!

Pregenerated Characters

We have stated sharing some of the pregenerated characters which will all be available for free from the official website when the game launches. So far you can see:

Backgrounds

Take a look at how backgrounds work! Backgrounds in Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition form part of your Origin, which consists of heritage, culture, background, and destiny. They fulfill the same role as in O5E, but they work slightly differently. Check out the Gambler and the Guard.

Ranger

Lots of people have been asking to see the ranger. This class went though two iterations through the playtest process, with thousands of you providing us with survey feedback. You can see the result of all that playtesting and feedback here. The Level Up ranger is the undisputed (non-magical) master of the exploration pillar!

A Project I Love: Iron Kingdoms!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 20, 2021 at 11:02:08 PM

Hey folks! I wanted to take a break from all the updates here (don't worry, we'll have a bunch of stuff tomorrow, but with an upcoming stretch goal on the horizon and a lot to announce, we didn't want to overload everybody!) to shout out a project I've just backed.

I first came across the Iron Kingdoms campaign setting back in the early 2000s, when Privateer Press released a trilogy of adventures for D&D 3E, starting with The Longest Night. It was a fantasy/steampunk combo, and I ran that trilogy for my gaming group. It also won a bunch of ENnies as I recall. So this is a setting I have a lot of nostalgia for.

Privateer later made a standalone game for the Iron Kingdoms, but recently they took it back to its origins by releasing a new version for 5E. They've just released an expansion for it (you don't need the previous book). The reason I've backed it is because with my new Level Up game I want a new campaign setting to explore, and this is a great example of how 5E material is compatible with Level Up.

They've also sent me a cool preview of their monk subclass, Way of the Gun

THE IRON KINGDOMS

Embark upon a journey of adventure and intrigue in a world where steam power and gunpowder meet sword and sorcery. Armed with mechanika and accompanied by mighty steamjacks, Iron Kingdoms: Borderlands and Beyond takes you outside the walls of man and into the vast borderlands that surround the Iron Kingdoms. Explore the ancient kingdoms of Ios, the elves' mist-shrouded home, and the rugged mountain cities of Rhul where the ancient dwarves dwell. Set out on an adventure in the sun-beaten expanse of the Bloodstone Marches, home to scavengers, nomads, and vagabonds, or journey into the tangled Glimmerwood, where the tribes of sturdy trollkin, cunning bogrin, and others follow the old ways.

PREVIEW: THE WAY OF THE GUN

If you’re a fan of Kung Fu and western movies, gunslinging and wire work, we offer you the Way of the Gun subclass preview — the monk who carries a fistful of blasting powder.

The Way of the Gun is a brand new inclusion to the Iron Kingdoms and settles in somewhere between the Gunfighter and Gun Mage classes. These warriors devote themselves to the use of firearms and can instill their weapons with a bit of something extra thanks to the power of their ki. Monks from the Way of the Gun are a good way to represent the silent and patient gunfighters to arise from Ios, or those wanderers in the Bloodstone Marches who roll into town to put an end to the machinations of gang bosses and their underlings. Following a man in black across the desert is optional.

Now you can be a vampire -- and the GM's Screen is in our sights!
over 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 17, 2021 at 04:41:08 AM

We did it, folks! We burst through that vampire stretch goal, and now we're careering at full speed towards the Narrator's Screen! Thank you all so much for getting us this far. 3 weeks to go!

There's a couple of news items:

BTW, by my calculations, $500K is £364K, so we'll be having a little celebration here at EN Publishing if we hit that particular milestone. It's only £10K away!

Thank you all again so much. More news and previews in the coming week. Have a great rest of the weekend!

We'll be previewing another class soon, and we're super excited to share it with you!

Level Up Electronic Support Survey
over 2 years ago – Tue, Oct 12, 2021 at 01:56:48 PM

Hello folks!

We've created a (very short) survey so you can tell us what you need in terms of electronic support. As a reminder we already have a Roll20 character sheet, but we are keenly aware that plenty of folks use other platforms.

Obviously, we can't do them all, but we can do a couple. This survey will help us decide which to focus on.

In addition, we ask for some feedback on what functionality you would expect to see in the Character Builder.

Click the link below to be taken to the survey. It will only take a minute.

https://us15.list-manage.com/survey?u=2026aa5caf3846031659ba7dd&id=ea82018f37&attribution=false

Thanks so much for your support! We'll have some more stretch goals to announce shortly.
